The safety situation on Finnish railways remained good in 2023, with passenger safety remaining at an excellent level and the number of level crossing accidents at the lowest in the monitoring history. Unfortunately, the number of level crossing accidents resulted in more injuries than in the previous year. Work is ongoing to improve level crossing safety across the whole network.
