The EU AI Act entered into force on 1 August 2024. It introduces binding rules for the development and use of artificial intelligence across the EU. One of the Act’s key practical tools is the AI regulatory sandbox, a controlled experimentation and testing environment for AI innovation under the supervision of competent authorities.
