An acceptable reason means the fi-domain name holder's acceptable reason for registering the domain name. These reasons are assessed when the owner of a protected name or trademark requests the removal of an fi-domain name identical to the holder’s name or trademark.
In Traficom's decision-making practice, one acceptable reason is that the domain name holder has had a registered name or trademark identical to the domain name when registering the domain name.
Another acceptable reason is that the domain name holder has had a registered name or trademark incorporating the word registered as the domain name when registering the domain name.
Other domain name holder's acceptable reasons include:
- protected name containing a hyphen that has been registered before the domain name
- figurative mark with a word that is identical to the domain name
- trade mark application that has been made before the registration of the domain name and that has not been changed.
Removal claims are always decided on a case-by-case basis.
