Flights between Helsinki and six regional airports to be funded until 27 February 2028

On 20 May 2025, the Government's Ministerial Committee on Economic Policy decided to fully fund air services between Helsinki and six regional airports until 27 February 2028.

Traficom has concluded an agreement with Finnair regarding an option period, ensuring the continuation of flights on the routes listed below. As this concerns an option, the level of service will largely remain unchanged. Tickets will go on sale in the coming days, and Finnair will announce once they are available.

Routes operated by Finnair:

  • Joensuu - Helsinki
  • Jyväskylä - Helsinki
  • Kajaani - Helsinki
  • Kemi - Helsinki
  • Kokkola - Helsinki

Traficom and the City of Pori have a joint procurement agreement in place for flights between Pori and Helsinki until 23 March 2027. In accordance with the decision of the Government’s Ministerial Committee on Economic Policy, the state will begin fully funding this route from the beginning of next year until 27 February 2028. Full utilisation of the state funding will require exercising the option included in the current agreement. Negotiations with the operator regarding the use of this option will begin in the autumn.
