The law regarding passenger lists on vessels now requires shipping companies to report the number of passengers and passenger information for small passenger vessels for search and rescue operations in the event of an accident. In the future, this information must be reported through the Nautilus notification service.

Sharing the number of passengers and passenger information will enhance search and rescue operations in accident situations as well as the subsequent investigation of potential accidents. The primary user of the obtained information is the Finnish Border Guard.

Check your reporting obligations and start using the Nautilus notification service

Reporting the number of persons and passenger information on board applies, with few exceptions, to almost all small Finnish passenger vessels.

The shipping company must ensure that the number of persons or the broader information of the persons on board the passenger vessel is reported to the ship's captain and the centralized service point in a timely and sufficiently detailed manner.

You can find detailed instructions and additional information on the Nautilus system info pages. (External link)
