The moped season is once again in full swing. Protective clothing is one of the elements of safe moped use. Take a look at Traficom’s new video to review all the important things to keep in mind when checking your moped equipment.
‘Without doubt, the most important piece of equipment is a helmet – one which is tough, well-fitting, and, of course, properly fastened and in good shape. When driving, it is also important to protect your eyes either by lowering the helmet’s face shield or wearing protective goggles’, explains adviser Juha Kulmala.
Projective and well-fitting jackets, trousers and gloves, as well as solid shoes, are also essential for safe moped use. This equipment can also be obtained second hand, of course.
‘I would recommend buying a new helmet if it is not possible to be sure that the second-hand option has not received some knocks. The protective properties of a helmet also get worse with age’, Kulmala adds.
