An export registration is a temporary registration that is used when you want to move a vehicle from Finland to abroad.

You can apply for the export registration of a vehicle that you own if

  • you intend to drive abroad with a vehicle that has not been registered in Finland, or
  • you intend to race abroad in an unregistered or decommissioned passenger car or motorcycle.

You can apply for export registration at Traficom by doing the following:

  • Purchase motor vehicle liability insurance that is valid in Finland for your vehicle.
  • Conduct a registration inspection if your vehicle has not been registered in Finland
    •  If the vehicle is notified in advance or registered in Finland, the registration inspection is not necessary
  • Apply for export registration with the following form:
    • form B518 for unregistered vehicles
    • form B519 for passenger cars that will compete abroad
    • form B520 for motorcycles that will compete abroad

The export registration plates will be delivered by mail to the address in Finland specified in the application. The invoice for the registration plates will be sent at a later date.
