You can order documents from Traficom based on the vehicle’s registration number or vehicle identification number, if the vehicle was registered after 1989. The documents are subject to a fee.
If information about the vehicle is available both in Traficom’s register and in the National Archives of Finland, we will send you the information from Traficom and provide instructions on how to order the missing information from the National Archives.
If the vehicle is registered 1965–1989, you can inquire a vehicle registration card from the National Archives. The registration card contains information of the vehicle, owner and holder.
If the vehicle was registered between 1965 and 1989, you can request the vehicle’s service card (kantakortti) from the National Archives. The service card includes essential information about the vehicle, its owner, and holder.
What documents can you order from Traficom?
Based on the vehicle’s registration or identification number, you can order:
- an extract of vehicle information
- the ownership history of the vehicle, including any current and previous owners and holders entered in the register from around 1989
- documents regarding registered vehicles or vehicles already removed from the register
- documents regarding registration or inspection events after 11/2007 (excluding periodical inspections).
You can place an order electronically (External link) or, if that is not possible, by phone at +358 29 534 5100 (local network/mobile call rate).
The documents are subject to a fee (7 €/each). We will send them to you either by email or post, according to your preference.
If no information is found about the vehicle, we will inform you.
