After identification, select your service role: personal services, acting on behalf of another person or acting on behalf of a company/an organisation.
Change the owner or holder data of a vehicle you own in My e-Services. If you have sold your vehicle, submit a notification of transfer.
As the owner, you can add or delete holders or other owners. You do not need a digital certificate.
If you are the holder of the vehicle, you need a digital certificate from the owner to change the information.
If you have sold the vehicle, submit a notification of transfer. This ends your liability for the vehicle. After having sold the vehicle, you cannot submit any other notifications.

If a natural person has not been marked as the holder of a company vehicle, the company must have a person in charge of use.

When can you change the owner or holder data of your vehicle electronically?
- You are the owner or the holder of the vehicle. As a holder, you need a digital certificate from the owner.
- You are at least 15 years old.
- The new owner or holder of the vehicle has a Finnish personal identity code or a valid business ID.
- The vehicle has a valid motor vehicle liability insurance unless it has been decommissioned from traffic use.

In the list, select the vehicle for which you want to perform the change of owner or holder data. Then select Change the owner or holder of the vehicle.
Pay for the change of vehicle's owner or holder data
You can save the receipt if you want. You can also later check that the change of your vehicle's owner or holder data succeeded on the My Activities page.
The service uses an automated decision-making procedure.

If you cannot submit the changes in the owner or holder data electronically, you can contact your insurance company or an inspection station that offers registration services. A holder needs a digital certificate from the owner to use the service.

If necessary, you can also use the e-service provided by your own insurance company.
Additional conditions and restrictions for changing the owner or holder data
If the owner is a minor who does not have the right to drive the vehicle in question, the information of the holder who is using the vehicle must be provided. The holder must be of an age that entitles them to drive the vehicle in question.
The registration service cannot be used in the following situations:
- The registration number is missing: The vehicle does not have a valid registration number.
- The right to change registration details has been restricted: The vehicle is subject to a registration alteration prohibition issued by an authority, or it contains registration pendency data.
- The vehicle has been issued with a transfer restriction. The transfer restriction is marked for a vehicle that has been imported as removal goods and has been granted a car tax reduction.
- The vehicle is in special use, i.e. a rescue vehicle, a hearse or a veterinary vehicle.
- The vehicle has been deregistered or finally deregistered, decommissioned for registration in the military vehicle register or decommissioned for registration abroad or on the Åland Islands.
- The vehicle has been stolen: The police have marked the vehicle as stolen.
- The vehicle is registered for diplomatic use.
