When changes take place in the details of the vehicle that you are the owner or holder of, notify the changes within a deadline of 7 days.
Submit the notification when you purchase the vehicle, the owner or holder data of your vehicle changes or its use information changes.
Also remember to notify changes in the owner or holder data of your vehicle that has been decommissioned from traffic use.
Note that you must submit a notification on the decommissioning or commissioning of the vehicle on the day on which you want to decommission the vehicle or commission it back to traffic use. In other words, you cannot submit the notification in advance or afterwards.
What changes do you not need to notify?
As your address and name as well as your municipality of residence are automatically forwarded from the Population Information System to the Transport Register, you do not need to notify this information yourself.
The information about the death of a person is forwarded from the Population Information System to the Transport Register. In this case, the ownership or the right of possession of the vehicle is also automatically transferred to the deceased person's estate, and the shareholders of the estate do not need to submit a separate notification of the change.
If you change your vehicle's insurance details with your insurance company, the new information will also be forwarded electronically from the insurance company to the Transport Register.
You do not need to submit a notification of a change in the structure of a vehicle or its accessories approved in a modification and coupling inspection. Neither do you need to submit it on any changes in the structure or accessories that do not require a modification inspection.
Companies or communities need not notify the name change of their main unit, since the information is automatically transferred from the Business Information System (YTJ) to the Transport Register.
The date of the change is not included in the 7-day deadline
Changes in the vehicle’s details must be notified within 7 days of the change. The date of the change is not included when calculating the deadline. For example, if the change takes place on a Wednesday, the declaration can still be made on the Wednesday of the following week. If the last day of the deadline is a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday, the notification can be made on the next business day.
