When can you change owner or holder details?

As the owner, you do not need a certificate to change the details.

A register notification can be submitted by an owner who is at least 15 years old. If the watercraft has several owners, any one of the owners can submit the notification alone. A holder can only report changes related to possession of the watercraft.

Do the following

  1. Step 1

Log in to My e-Services and select the watercraft

Log in to My e-Services. Select the watercraft whose owner or holder details you want to change. As the logged-in user, you will remain an owner.

You need the personal identity code of the person or the Business ID of the organisation you are adding.

If you have sold the watercraft, submit a notification of transfer instead

  2. Step 2

Select Change the owner and/or holder

Add or remove owners and holders. Provide information on the ownership of the watercraft, that is, whether more than 60% of the watercraft is Finnish-owned. This determines the watercraft's right to fly the Finnish flag.

Chapter 1, section 1 of the Maritime Act applies to the nationality of a watercraft and its right to fly the Finnish flag.

Select a contact person and enter their telephone number. You can also provide an email address.

    Pay the registration fee.

Automated decision-making is used in the service.

If you cannot handle the matter electronically, you can visit a registration service point of your choice. Bring proof of identity with you.

  1. See where the most suitable registration service point for you is located.
  2. Complete the notification form in advance. All mandatory information is marked with an asterisk (*). Make sure you have this information before visiting the service point.

When you act on behalf of another person

An organisation or individual can use the Suomi.fi e-Authorizations service to authorise another person or organisation to act on their behalf in Traficom's e-service.

If you submit a notification on behalf of another person by means other than the e-service, you must have the right to act on their behalf. However, you do not need to present a power of attorney when submitting the notification.
