  • Organisations must obtain authorisation for SMS sender IDs in April 2026 to ensure message delivery after 4 May 2026

    Organisations that send text messages must have the sender IDs they use authorised during April 2026. The easiest approach is for organisations to contact their SMS service provider, which will guide them through the process. Stricter practices under Traficom Regulation 28 will enter into force on 4 May 2026.

  • New measures introduced to combat scam messages sent in the name of organisations

    The Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom’s revised Regulation obliges telecommunications operators to ensure the accuracy of message sender information and to reliably identify senders. The obligations are intended to reduce the risk of citizens becoming victims of crime. The revised Regulation will enter into force on 4 May 2026.

  • No problems observed in the functionality of emergency calls as a result of 3G shutdown

    Cooperation between the authorities ensures the functioning of services in society. The Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom and the Emergency Response Centre Agency work in close cooperation to secure the functioning of emergency calls in Finland. The Emergency Response Centre Agency is not aware of any situations in which the shutdown of 3G networks would have affected the functionality of emergency calls.
