Free-to-air terrestrial TV channels are about to migrate fully to the DVB-T2 broadcasting technology in the next few years. All terrestrial pay-TV channels are already being broadcast using only DVB-T2 technology, which enables broadcasting of high-definition (HD) programming or a higher number of programme channels with standard (SD) quality.
The transition date is done on March 31st 2025 for Yle's channels, and June 30th for commercial channels. . TV broadcasters will decide on the schedule together.
There are already several HD channels available in the terrestrial TV network. All TV channels are listed by multiplex on Digita’s website (External link) (in Finnish).

Transition to HD broadcasts
The DVB-T2 broadcasting technology enables a wider selection of high-definition (HD) broadcasts and a higher number of programme channels with standard (SD) quality. If you want to continue watching television over the terrestrial network after the transition, you need a TV set or digital set-top box with a DVB-T2 tuner.
