Common channels allocated to trade and industry include channels for both voice and data transmission. The use of the channels requires a radio licence. All frequencies on the common channels are simplex frequencies, meaning that reception and transmission always use the same frequency. For these channels, long-term radio licences are only granted for professional communications in trade and industry, but short-term licences (mainly for a maximum of 2 weeks) may also be granted for recreational events. Radio licences granted for common channels include the right to use the channels in all of Finland.
