Common channels of business activities
Common channels allocated to trade and industry include channels for both voice and data transmission. The use of the channels requires a radio licence. All frequencies on the common channels are simplex frequencies, meaning that reception and transmission always use the same frequency. For these channels, long-term radio licences are only granted for professional communications in trade and industry, but short-term licences (mainly for a maximum of 2 weeks) may also be granted for recreational events. Radio licences granted for common channels include the right to use the channels in all of Finland.

General common channels of business activities for voice communication
Common channels of bands 2-5:
- Channels of the selected band (2, 3, 4 or 5) are recorded to the radio licence but several bands can be selected as well
- Channels can be used only for voice communication (including short data messages)
- Channels can be used only by mobile radiotelephones which are required to be able to move and transmit simultaneously
- Radiotelephones on these channels may not use higher radiated power than 5 W ERP
- On band 2, the channel bandwidth is 12.5 kHz and on others bands, the channel bandwidth is 25 kHz
Common channels of bands 2d and 5d only for digital use:
- Channels of the selected band (2d or 5d) are recorded to the radio licence but both bands can be selected as well
- Channels can be used only for digital (like DMR and dPMR) voice communication (including short data messages)
- Channels can be used only by mobile radiotelephones which are required to be able to move and transmit simultaneously
- Radiotelephones on these channels may not use higher radiated power than 5 W ERP
- Channel bandwidth is 12.5 kHz
Common channels for guiding lifting operations
- All 18 channels quoted in the table are always recorded to the radio licence
- Channels can be used only for voice communication (including short data messages) guiding lifting operations related to business activities
- Channels can be used only by mobile radiotelephones which are required to be able to move and transmit simultaneously
- Radiotelephones on these channels may not use higher radiated power than 1 W ERP
- Channel bandwidth (12.5 kHz tai 25 kHz) is determined by the centre frequency as illustrated in the table
Common channels for TETRA DMO (Direct Mode Operation)
- Both channels quoted in the table are always recorded to the radio licence
- Channels can be used only for voice communication (including short data messages) in accordance with the TETRA standard
- Channels can be used only by mobile radiotelephones which are required to be able to move and transmit simultaneously
- Radiotelephones on these channels may not use higher radiated power than 5 W ERP
- Channel bandwidth is 25 kHz in accordance with the TERA standard
Common channels for data transfer and DGNSS transmitters
- Channels of the selected group (1, 2 or 3) are recorded to the radio licence but several groups can be selected as well
- Channels can be used by nomadic and mobile stations, but the frequency fee is always charged as for mobile stations
- Channels of group 1 can be used only for data transfer including transmitting DGNSS signal. Highest allowed radiated power is 0.5 W ERP
- Channels of group 2 can be used only for transmitting DGNSS signal and for sales presentation of data transfer equipment. Highest allowed radiated power is 10 W ERP
- Channels of group 3 can be used only for data transfer including transmitting DGNSS signal. Highest allowed radiated power is 10 W ERP
- Channel bandwidth can be selected between 12.5 kHz and 25 kHz on all channels
