When can you change the vehicle tax instalment?

You can change the instalment if

  • you are liable to pay vehicle tax
  • the first instalment of the tax period has not yet been paid
  • you have not changed the instalment during the current tax period.

The person liable to pay the tax is the holder of the vehicle, meaning the main user, if a holder has been recorded in the Transport Register. If no holder has been recorded in the Transport Register, the owner of the vehicle is liable to pay the tax.

If you pay your vehicle tax in instalments, a charge of EUR 3 will be added to each instalment.
