The Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom requests for comments regarding the updated draft of the .fi Domain Name Regulation. The background to a revised Regulation is the need to update the current Domain Name Regulation to reflect the changing legislative and operating environment.
The Finnish Parliament is currently considering the proposal for legislation implementing the Cybersecurity Directive (NIS 2 Directive) (HE 57/2024), which includes amendments affecting domain name operations. The draft of the updated domain name regulation is based on the before-mentioned proposal. The final regulation and its explanatory memorandum will be finalized once the legislation has been completed. Traficom strives for the updated Domain Name Regulation to enter into force as soon as possible after the legislative amendments have entered into force.
The draft Domain Name Regulation and its Explanatory Memorandum have been published in Finnish and Swedish. The English versions of the documents will be published later at lausuntopalvelu.fi.
